Infant Feeding Support Volunteers

Our Infant Feeding Peer Supporters are committed volunteers who help mothers & babies needing support with Infant Feeding. Support is offered in hospital, the community, through home-visits and by telephone.

Volunteers must have breastfed themselves for at least 3 weeks and be willing to commit to a 12 week training course and on-going supervision while volunteering.

Volunteers work in partnership with other professionals in the community and hospital and must agree to work within both Home-Start’s and The Breastfeeding Network’s Codes of Conduct.

Our Infant Feeding Peer Support training is delivered in partnership with the Breastfeeding Network (BfN) and leads to volunteers becoming BfN registered Breastfeeding Helpers as well as Home-Start Volunteers.

The course is a recognised qualification so can help you in further education and employment. The course is designed to be accessible for all women including those with no formal qualifications.

All we ask is that you are willing to commit to 12 months of volunteering with us for 2-3 hours a week and demonstrate that you can support new mums and their families in a friendly, non-judgemental way.

Please contact Denise Farrow on 0161 344 0669 for more information, or for an application pack.

Home-Start is committed to safer recruitment practices as an important part of safeguarding & protecting children & vulnerable adults
