“My daughter has come on leaps and bounds. Can’t thank Home-Start enough.”
Parents ask for Home-Start’s help for all sorts of reasons:
- Feeling isolated, have no family nearby and struggling to make friends.
- Finding it hard to cope because of their own or a child’s illness or disability.
- Hit hard by the death of a loved one.
- Really struggling with emotional and physical demands of having twins or triplets – perhaps born into an already large family.
Everybody needs a little help sometimes
Help is at hand. We support any family who needs us, as long as they have at least one child under five. There is no ‘typical’ Home-Start family. Our families reflect the diverse communities we serve.
But what do we mean by ‘support’? If you ask for Home-Start’s help you can be sure of total confidentiality. There is no stigma attached to Home-Start’s help – many families refer themselves to us.
After asking for our support you will meet with one of our local
Co-ordinators who will carefully match you with one of our volunteers.
Our volunteers, who all have parenting experience, will visit you for a couple of hours a week and give you both emotional and practical help. Plus all Home-Start’s volunteers have an enhanced level criminal records check and undergo training before being matched to a family.
