Young Mums Project – In partnership with the British Red Cross

Home Start HOST’s new Young Mums project is funded by the British Red Cross. We aim to bring young mums (aged 25 and under) together so that they can make friends with one another.  We hope that this will help combat the isolation felt by many young parents when they get pregnant and have their child. The ultimate goal of our project is to give these mums the social experiences and skills that will help to avoid them feeling alone later in life.

We aim to create a safe space for parents of a similar age and situation to be able to share experiences, worries, contacts and general socialisation, without fear of judgement or insecurity. We will be holding 5 events and 5 corresponding social/support groups. The first two events in Tameside and Oldham will be held at the end of August 2018. These will be followed by a 6 week group in each area for those mums who would like to attend. The next events in Oldham and Tameside will be in the Autumn, with the final event and group in Stockport in the New Year.

Follow us on Facebook, where we’ll be posting about upcoming events!
