Join us for the Great Manchester Run 2026!

Thanks to the generosity and creativity of our community in raising funds we can be there for more families when they need us most. There are lots of fun ways to fundraise for us.

Here’s a few ideas:

• Sponsored ‘Walk and Toddle’: get together with others, and host a walk and toddle, and get your friends and family to sponsor you.

• Cake & Bake coffee morning: whether it’s at the office or at home, a ‘cake and bake’ is a great way to bring people together.  Charge a small fee for delicious cake!

• Get together with friends for a clear out and sell the goods at a car boot sale.

• Baby and toddler storytime

Sponsored events are a great way to challenge yourself and harness the support of your networks to benefit a great cause.  We coordinate runners for the Manchester Run each year, so do get in touch if you’d like to be part of the HOST team!

Some of the most popular ways you can support us include:

• Organising an event at work for us. Keep it simple at first with a dress-down (or dress-up!) Friday or a bake sale and donate the funds raised to us.
• Making Home-Start HOST your charity of the year.
• Inspire your colleagues to join you in a sponsored physical challenge for us, such as the iconic Great Manchester 10k run.
• You may work for a company that offers a charitable ‘matched funding’ scheme – could you take advantage of this for Home-Start HOST?
• Sponsor one of our services for a day, such as the costs of supporting a family.

An established local charity for over 25 years, Home-Start HOST has grown from small beginnings in Hattersley to serve families across 4 boroughs of Greater Manchester.

Over the years, we have come to know our communities very well, and to understand what truly makes a difference for families in those crucial early years.  If you are passionate about giving children the best possible start in life, we can use our expertise and experience to help you make a real difference to families.

Leaving a gift to charity in your will is a fantastic way for your generosity to last beyond your own lifetime to help the next generation. In certain circumstances it can also be tax efficient.

Choosing to leave a gift in your will to Home-Start HOST will allow us to continue our important work to support and help families in the area. Whatever amount you decide to leave you will know that you will have helped us support families at a difficult time in their lives so that their children are able to develop and thrive.

As a local charity we don’t have the resources to help you write your will or the right expertise to give advice. We recommend you speak to a solicitor when writing or updating your will.  You will need to give the full name of the charity which is Home-Start HOST, and our charity number which is 1135838.
